Voluntary Disclosure of Fracking Additives Begins for One Marcellus Shale Company
As promised, Range Resources has voluntarily disclosed the additives used in the process of hydraulic fracturing (fracking) of natural gas wells in the Marcellus Shale region in Pennsylvania.  While the report has been submitted to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), it is not yet available on Range Resources website. They say their reports will be available online no longer than 30 days upon completion.
The information in the initial report covers the first of the Marcellus Shale wells in Pennsylvania on which Range Resources has used the fracking process since implementation of the voluntary initiative.
A sample report posted on their website gives a breakdown of the additives, which comprise .14% of the fracking process. Water and sand make up the bulk of the mixture. The additives include the following items:
- Scale inhibitor
- HCl acid mixture
- Friction reducer
- Antimicrobial agent
