Two Tractor-Trailers Collide on Virginia Highway

A log truck and a box trailer collided in Franklin County, Virginia closing Rt. 220 Southbound lanes for close to four hours on August 3rd.  The accident resulted in the log truck spilling its load on the highway and both trucks bursting into flames.  Both of the large trucks were destroyed.

The box trailer was carrying lead acid batteries. Crews had to use booms to prevent run-off from the batteries or spilled fuel from pouring into the Blackwater River.  Subsequent tests of the water have come back clear.

Big-rig operators are responsible for the safe operation of their vehicle.  When semi-trucks travel at rates close to 55 mph, the driver must remain alert and take extra caution when changing lanes or making any maneuvers.  If you have been injured, or a loved one has died, in a commercial trucking accident, you need the experienced lawyers of Munley, Munley & Cartwright to protect your rights.

The driver of the box truck has been charged with making an improper/unsafe lane change.  Crews spent hours clearing the roadway of logs and the hazardous materials.

If you have been injured or a loved one killed in a vehicle accident that was caused by another person’s carelessness or recklessness, you may be able to recover damages that include medical costs, property loss, lost wages, and pain and suffering.  Please call Munley, Munley & Cartwright’s lawyers at 1-800-318-LAW1 for a free assessment of your case or use our free online accident case evaluation.
