Man Dies From Injuries Suffered In Tractor-Trailer Accident

A Pennsylvania man has died from injuries he suffered when his pick-up truck crashed with a tractor-trailer in New Jersey, reports the Gloucester County Times. The passenger truck flipped on its side coming to rest against an abandoned building.

A typical fully loaded tractor-trailer can weigh close to 80,000 pounds, while an average passenger automobile weighs only 3,000 pounds. Due to this size disparity, and the basic laws of physics, any collision between a commercial truck and another vehicle is likely to result in serious, even fatal, injuries. If you have been injured, or a loved one has died, in a commercial trucking accident, you need the experienced lawyers of Munley, Munley & Cartwright to protect your rights.

The 59-year-old-driver and his passenger had to be cut from the 1997 Ford F-150 pick-up.  They were then airlifted to Cooper University Hospital in Camden where the driver was pronounced dead from severe head injuries he sustained in the crash.  The passenger was hospitalized with a concussion.

The driver of the 2006 Freightliner tractor-trailer was uninjured.

If you have been injured or a loved one killed in a vehicle accident that was caused by another person’s carelessness or recklessness, you may be able to recover damages that include medical costs, property loss, lost wages, and pain and suffering.  Please call Munley, Munley & Cartwright’s lawyers at 1-800-318-LAW1 for a free assessment of your case or use our free online accident case evaluation.

Senator Baker Opposes Forced Pooling for Marcellus Shale Sites

Pennsylvania State Senator Lisa Baker (R-Luzerne) has made it known that she opposes forced pooling and she will “vigorously oppose efforts by the natural gas industry” to gain this power.

In a statement released July 22, 2010, Baker said that “people should not be forced by state law to accept drilling beneath their property if they do not want it.” She added, “the economic interests of gas drilling do not override the fundamental rights of property owners.”

Pooling is the process of grouping adjoining mineral rights leases to form a larger drilling unit, and according to the industry,  results in more economical drilling.

If you are a property owner whose property has been harmed by natural gas exploration, talk to an attorney who is experienced in Marcellus Gas drilling issues.  The attorneys at Munley, Munley & Cartwright represent victims who have been injured through no fault of their own, including those who have suffered personal injury and those who have been harmed through the loss of enjoyment of their property. Pooling May be Forced on Marcellus Shale Area Residents

The Marcellus Shale natural gas industry is lobbying for legislation that would force property owners in the Marcellus Shale region to allow drilling for natural gas on their land if other property owners approve the request but they refuse.  Referred to as “forced pooling,” the pooling order would set forth the terms and conditions of the forced lease, such as compensation for the reluctant property owner.

The purpose of pooling is to group adjoining mineral rights leases to form a larger drilling unit, and according to the industry, results in more economical drilling.  Property owners with mineral rights would lease his or her interest in exchange for a royalty share. In Pennsylvania, the industry wants to add the statute to the severance tax to be adopted by the state.

If you are a property owner and you are opposed to drilling on your property, or if your well has been contaminated or your property has been damaged by well drilling, you may have a claim for damages against a drilling rig operator or the gas exploration company. The Marcellus Shale gas accident lawyers at Munley, Munley & Cartwright can advise you on your options.
